Choosing colours for your home can quickly become overwhelming. With endless paint charts, fabric samples and inspiration saved online, knowing where to begin is often the hardest part. A timeless palette doesn't have to mean playing it safe. It's about choosing colours that work beautifully together and feel right for both your home and the way you live.

Look at your home first

Before reaching for a paint chart, take some time to look at what's already there.

The natural light, flooring, stonework, timber and architectural details can all influence how a colour feels within a room. A shade that looks beautiful in one house can feel completely different in another.

Rather than working against these elements, use them as the foundation for your palette.

Begin with a small group of colours

You don't need a different colour for every room.

Start with a small collection of complementary shades and use variations of them throughout your home. Warm neutrals can provide a beautiful foundation, while earthy greens, muted blues or deeper tones can introduce character.

Repeating colours in different ways helps individual rooms feel connected without making them identical.

Think beyond the walls

Colour doesn't only come from paint.

Upholstery, curtains, artwork, rugs, timber and accessories all contribute to the overall palette of a room. Sometimes keeping the walls quieter allows these elements to introduce the colour and texture that gives a space its personality.

Timeless doesn't have to mean neutral.
It means choosing colours you'll enjoy living with.

Always test before committing

Paint can change dramatically throughout the day, so always test colours in the room where they'll actually be used.

Look at your samples in morning light, afternoon light and under artificial lighting in the evening. Taking a little more time at this stage can make all the difference to the finished space.
